🟣 Australia. July 15 Damaging #wind and #rain lash Victoria overnight, with #snow flurries reported in NSW. Strong winds and rain hit the state, felling trees, damaging dwellings, and flooding low-lying areas and river catchments. The strongest wind gusts of 115km/h were recorded at Wilson’s Promontory in Victoria, and gusts of more than 100km/h were recorded across the state and also in north-western Tasmania.

🟣 Germany. #fires Temperatures over 30 degrees, scorching sun, no rain. After weeks of drought, wildfires are raging in several regions of Germany.
🔥 #fires across the world. Currently, 59 large active wildfires in the USA. Forest fires have also been recorded in Canada, where 1.5 million hectares have already burned. In the USA - 365,000 hectares, and in Russia, almost 460,000 hectares as of June 24, 2024. In Europe, the area of fires is currently 87,000 hectares below last year's figures. The fires are particularly severe in Canada, where as of today, out of 589 active fires, 400 are uncontrolled, raising the fire disaster level to the highest.

🟣 Italy, July 8 A severe #drought in Sicily has nearly dried up the Mediterranean island's only natural lake which has long served as a vital resting station for birds migrating between Africa and Europe. Sicily has suffered months of below-average rainfall, with the Italian government declaring a state of emergency over the crisis, which has devastated crops and desiccated pastures.

🟣 Afghanistan. At least 40 die after heavy rains pound eastern Afghanistan, destroying houses and cutting power. 347 injured people had been brought for treatment to the regional hospital. About 400 houses and 60 electricity poles were destroyed across Nangarhar.

🟣 Mexico. On July 14, heavy #rain that fell on Sunday afternoon in the northern part of the Valley of Mexico caused severe #flooding in several areas of the municipalities of Tlalnepantla and Ecatepec. The flooding mainly affected roads, where dozens of cars were trapped. The water level reached nearly up to the windows.
