Out of the Ocean
The ocean is a vital resource that provides countless benefits to our planet, including the regulation of the Earth's climate, production of oxygen, and habitat for a variety of species. However, plastic pollution is one of the biggest threats to the health of our ocean, affecting not only marine life but also the quality of our own food, water and air. Plastic waste has been found in every corner of the ocean, from the deepest trenches to remote island beaches. Marine animals can mistake plastic debris for food and ingest it, leading to starvation and death. Plastic also poses a risk to their habitat, by entangling and suffocating them or by altering the balance of the ecosystem. Moreover, plastic that degrades in the ocean releases harmful chemicals into the water, which can be absorbed by marine life and enter the food chain, eventually affecting human health. That's why it is essential to remove plastic waste from the ocean and recycle it. Products made from recycled plastics like Wehlers R.U.M chairs are an excellent example of how recycled plastic can have a second life and help to protect our planet. The R.U.M. Original Orange chair is made from plastic collected from either the ocean or households, and each chair removes nearly 2kg of plastic from the ocean. This not only helps to reduce the amount of plastic waste in the ocean but also promotes a circular economy, where waste is transformed into valuable resources. The R.U.M. Original Orange Chair is also designed to be sustainable and environmentally-friendly. The plastic is sorted in and around Denmark to ensure the highest quality and colour combination, and only two materials are used in its production, both of which can be recycled 100% for new Wehlers furniture. Removing plastic from the ocean and recycling it into new products is crucial for the health of our planet. Products like Wehlers R.U.M chairs show that it is possible to turn waste into valuable resources, while promoting sustainability and protecting the environment. By choosing products made from recycled plastics, we can help to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on our ocean and support a circular economy.

It is a great way to recycle plastics but there should be measures to curb how the plastics get into the ocean, by protecting marine life we also protect ourselves.
