Iberdrola has successfully issued £500 million (€600 million) in 12-year green bonds, marking its largest sterling issuance since 2009. This is the company's first green bond in sterling, aimed at diversifying its financing sources following its third-quarter results. The demand for the bonds exceeded £2.1 billion (€2.5 billion), allowing for a reduction in the spread over the reference interest rate from 125 to 95 basis points. The coupon rate is set at 5.25%, with participation from over 140 investors focused on ESG initiatives. Major banks such as Barclays, HSBC, Goldman Sachs, and NatWest facilitated the issuance.

This move highlights Iberdrola's strategic commitment to expanding its green financing capabilities while enhancing its position in the European utility market. By tapping into the GBP market, the company will diversify its funding and also reinforce its leadership in sustainable investments, particularly in the renewable energy sector.
