French Minister for Ecological Transition want shops to swap plastic packaging for refill stations

MPs have voted in favour of a new law that would mean large supermarkets in France must dedicate 20% of their surface space to food refill stations by 2030. The law was put forward as an environmental “climate and resilience” measure, to reduce plastic packaging. But it is not yet definitive. After being passed by parliament it must also be passed by the senate, which will discuss the matter in May. If passed, it will apply to shops that are 400m2 and over and will make it easier for shoppers to use their own reusable containers when buying dry products like rice, pasta, cereals and beans. It is actually already happening in France since some years, maybe not at 20 percent. But France is way ahead. In comparison to Sweden, where supermarkets have a US style mentality and plastic is governing the surfaces, organic food is coming from Peru and China. @WeDontHaveTime needs to push the supermarket lobby in Sweden to change drastically. How can we make that happen?

Am new in this app... That's a good news! Atleast that 20% in the beginning it will mean much, hoping for more % by maybe 2040's

This is brilliant🙌! I hope more countries apply this law. However, only 20% of their surface by 2030 is way less than we urgently need. 😔

That's a great one step! Hope the french senate will do same More for the benefit of it's people and environment.
