Kenya's First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto on Friday 2nd June received a donation of 283 bicycles from the Republic of Korea. The donation, which includes 100 commuter bicycles, 155 electric bicycles, and 28 mountain and road bicycles was handed in by Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Yeo Sung-Jun, and his wife Hoeseung Hwang. This bicycles come timely as the President promised there will be a roll out of electric motobicles to aid in transitioning to clean transport. The bicycles will give Kenya a chance to have non-motorized transport hence reduce carbon footprint. Mama Rachel giving her appreciation to the republic of Korea says this will promote sustainable transportation and aid in reaching the zero carbon emissions by 2050. The First Lady says that the bicycles will be distributed to Kenyans around the nation so as to give them empowerment. She also urged Kenyans to join the global community of cyclists. Mama Rachel Ruto also called for all purpose road infrastructure so as to boost inclusivity in a bid she calls 'share the road". On his part Ambassador Yeo Sung Jun noted that the event marks a milestone in our shared commitment to empowering women, promoting sustainable transport, and fostering a greener future. “As the Korean Ambassador to Kenya, I am deeply proud to be part of this momentous occasion. It is a testament to the strong bond between our two nations and our unwavering dedication to supporting initiatives that promote gender equality. The donation of around 300 bicycles, worth approximately 200,000 US dollars, symbolises our belief in the power of sustainable mobility,” Ambassador Yeo Sung Jun said https://ntvkenya.co.ke/news/rachel-ruto-receives-283-bicycles-worth-kes27-6-million-from-korea/
